Merry Christmas
Each year for Christmas, I design a scripture card to be included with our family Christmas card. It really is the least I can do to glorify God through the gifts He has given me.
During church, a member of the worship team named Amanda discussed one of her favorite children’s books, The Runaway Bunny. A little bunny is telling his mother he would like to run away and she insists no matter where he runs or what he becomes, she will be the one he depends on.
Once there was a little bunny who wanted to run away.
So he said to his mother, “I am running away.”
“If you run away,” said his mother, “I will run after you.
For you are my little bunny.”
“If you become a rock on the mountain high above me,”
said his mother, “I will become a mountain climber,
and I will climb to where you are.”
“If you become a bird and fly away from me,”
said his mother, “I will be a tree that you come home to.”
Amanda then compared that book to Psalm 139 where David is poetically stating there is no place he can possibly hide from God’s presence. The love of God is insurmountable, it’s difficult to wrap my mind around. The closest I can come to understanding is through being a mother. I listened to Amanda read Psalm 139 and I could feel God’s love in that service, more specifically, His love for me.
